Nia’s founder is a Burn Surgeon with East African roots. Dr. Alisha Z. Jiwani MD MPH CWSP specializes in the care and treatment of Burns, acute/chronic/complex Wounds, and Trauma. She completed her Burn Surgery Fellowship at the world-renowned U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) Burn Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX and her Trauma Fellowship at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Harvard University, MD-MPH dual-degree with Delta Omega Honors from the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio joint with UT Houston’s School of Public Health, and split General Surgery residency training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA and University of Alabama Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. She is one of 11 Certified Wound Specialist Physicians (CWSP) practicing in Alabama. She is also certified in Botox® and Dermal Filler injections. She has 10+ years of experience working directly with burn injured patients, including at different Hospitals and Burn Centers across the country.
